Initial Ideas

Idea 1
Projection

For this Idea I would like to explore the connection between people and images/videos.
I want to present this idea by projecting the image/video onto the model.
High Key – Simple high key portrait maybe with the face illuminated by the projection. (Head and shoulders)
Low Key – A more informal/personal image, wider angle, with much more focus on the projection
Still life – A simple image of the projected image/video.
Well lit, hard lighting

(Low key and High Key will work best together)

Who to use?
Rita?
  •         Local
  •         Both benefit as she needs me to take some new headshots for her
  •         Experience being photographed
  •         Both comfortable with each other

What to use for the projecting?
  • Electronic projector  (Digital image/Video)
  • Old fashioned projector  (Image printed on acetate
  • The lights themselves  (Image printed on acetate and attached to barn doors)

Idea 2
Coloured Lighting

For this idea I want to explore coloured lighting and the connotations colour holds. Exploring the ways in which we interpret colours and the stereotypical attitudes behind them.
High Key – Simple high key portrait, very much focused on the model, their clothing etc. (Full body)
Low Key – Using coloured lighting to contrast/juxtapose the model. E.g. Using pastel pink lighting to shoot a lad.
Still Life – Unsure at the moment. Possibly photographing the models possessions in similar light.
(All three image may work well together)
Who to use?
As the ethos of this idea is using a light source to contrast a person/a persons appearance I will have to choose a model who could constitute a stereotype.

E.g. Quite/innocent/feminine or Manly/aggressive

What to use for lighting?

Masculine
Soft lighting
light colours pallet (pinks,blues)
pastle tones

Feminine
Hard/sharp lighting
Dark coulor pallet (blacks,grays,blues)
Bold/strong tones

Idea 3
Passion

This idea focuses on the subject more than the lighting.
I want to document creative people producing there work.
High Key – Simple high key image
Or
High key image showing the persons passion, quite corporate in style.
Low Key – The model doing there passion e.g. painting, playing an instrument etc.
Still Life – A still life of the work produced
(I think all three could work together but more likely Low key and still life)

Who to use?
Painter
Illustrator
Musician

How to shoot?
I want to document the artist doing what ever their passion is whether that be painting a picture, producing/play a music etc.
Depending on the specific passion the lighting will change but I would once again like to incorporate colour into the images.
The lighting will also change depending on the model e.g. one musician may reflect a very soft, harmonious lighting set up where as another may reflect a hard, dark, atmospheric lighting set up.
